Staff Platform Engineer (Storage and Backup) Join to apply for the Staff Platform Engineer (Storage and Backup) role at Commonwealth Bank . You’ll support automation, security, monitoring, and documentation to keep our infrastructure robust. Responsibilities Develop and deploy infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions to automate operational tasks and improve platform efficiency. Support DevSecOps practices by integrating security into stages of the software development lifecycle. Deploy, configure, and maintain monitoring and alerting tools to identify and resolve infrastructure issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and performance through SRE practices. Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure, processes, and procedures to support consistency and knowledge sharing. Work with security teams to integrate best practices into CI/CD pipelines and platform operations. Stay informed on industry trends and technologies to support platform improvements. Contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and development. Key Skills & Experience Proficient in programming and delivering scalable infrastructure. Experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role with exposure to public or private cloud environments (e.g., AWS, VMware, Converged Infrastructure). Back technologies (e.g., Networker, CommVault). Storage technologies: Object (S3), File, Block, SAN fabric. Understanding of DevSecOps principles including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and security automation. Hands‑on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Github Actions, CloudFormation. Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Splunk, Fluentbit) for system reliability. Knowledge of cloud-native technologies, networks, virtualization, and containerisation (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker). Scripting and programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Go, SQL, PL/SQL). Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive problem‑solving approach. Experience with MS Active Directory, MS PKI, Thales HSM, CyberArk, RSA SecureID highly regarded.
