About Our Client Large public sector department that plays a pivotal role in delivering critical services to the community. Our client is committed to leveraging innovative solutions to drive efficiency and security in its operations. Key Responsibilities Lead the development, implementation and improvement of cyber governance frameworks, policies, and procedures, including frameworks specific to Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs to ensure compliance with Queensland Government regulations and ethical standards. Create and enhance governance protocols for system releases to ensure robust security practices are in place across the Customer Technology Branch. Provide advice across Customer Technology Branch on the evolving cyber threat landscape. Review and provide security guidance on specific customer technology solutions. Establish governance processes for existing and new development projects hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring adherence to secure cloud practices and standards. Oversee compliance with ISO27001 standards. Support integration of AI governance, data protection and privacy controls. Integrate governance and security controls for modern data platforms, including Snowflake and graph databases, ensuring compliance with data protection standards and secure data handling practices. Develop and maintain data governance frameworks that address structured, semi-structured, and graph-based data models, supporting secure analytics and AI workflows. Collaborate across the Customer Technology branch to identify security risks, establish mitigation strategies, and maintain compliance with cybersecurity standards. Provide expertise in secure system design, risk assessment and threat modelling. Conduct regular audits and reviews of AI programs, new developments and system releases to ensure ongoing compliance and alignment with security policies. Work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure security measures are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Maintain documentation of governance processes, security protocols, and compliance measures, ensuring clarity and accessibility. The Successful Applicant Qualifications and experience 5+ years of experience in cyber governance, risk management and compliance ideally within regulated environments Strong knowledge of AI program risks and governance requirements, including ethical considerations and data privacy standards. Knowledge of AI‑specific standards, including ethical AI principles and secure data handling practices. Proven expertise in cloud security practices – ideally AWS. Deep understanding of ISO27001 requirements and regulations. Familiarity with Queensland Government cybersecurity standards, policies, and regulations, as well as Australian cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., ACSC Essential Eight, ISM). Experience with risk assessment and mitigation strategies, including identifying vulnerabilities in AI systems and cloud environments. Proficiency in secure SDLC methodologies, ensuring security is integrated at each stage of development and release. Ability to design and implement governance frameworks, including documentation, workflow management and compliance tracking. What's on Offer Competitive daily rate. 6 month initial contract.
