Develop a Technical Debt Management Strategy and Roadmap Sep 23, 2025 - Senior $4,500.00 Fixed Overview We are a software company that has been growing rapidly. Our focus has always been on shipping new features quickly, which has led to a significant amount of technical debt. The Challenge Our codebase is full of technical debt. We have legacy code, inconsistent practices, and a lack of proper documentation. This makes it increasingly difficult and slow to develop new features, and we are experiencing frequent bugs. The high technical debt is slowing down our development velocity and increasing our maintenance costs. It is also causing burnout among our engineering team and making it difficult to attract and retain top talent. Proposed Method We need a senior architect or engineering leader to assess our technical debt and create a management strategy. The project will involve: Assessment: Conducting a technical audit to identify and prioritize the key areas of technical debt. Strategy: Developing a roadmap to address the technical debt, including a plan for refactoring, re-platforming, and implementing new standards. Implementation Plan: Creating a detailed plan for how to integrate the technical debt work into our regular development cycle. Required Experience At least 3+ years of experience in a senior engineering or architecture role. The freelancer must have a proven track record of managing and reducing technical debt in a complex codebase. Required Expertise Deep expertisein software architecture and design patterns. Strong knowledge of technical debt management frameworks. Excellent code review, refactoring, and project management skills. Experience with legacy systems.
