Two AO6 Senior Project Officer (Identified) roles exist within the regional First Nations team. Each will help develop and deliver initiatives that build culturally capable schools and staff, including key projects such as regional rollout of Cultural Capability training, leadership development in culturally safe practice, complex case support for school or community matters, and school‑based work to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across curriculum and classroom environments. These roles work collaboratively with schools, regional teams, and community partners to strengthen cultural safety, align with departmental priorities and the Equity and Excellence strategy, and build genuine connections between schools and communities. Your Responsibilities Provide cultural advice and guidance to support case navigation for individual students, focusing on transition pathways in the nominated region. Plan and coordinate professional development programs and education and training activities for school‑based staff and students. Develop and provide support service programmes for schools that encourage the educational participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Undertake project planning, analysis, integrate project activities and evaluate the impact of projects and initiatives. Develop, implement and monitor project services in consultation with stakeholders to ensure identified needs are met. Research, develop, maintain and review operational policies, standards, procedures and programmes to support the unit’s function across the department. Prepare briefing material, submissions, papers and reports. Coordinate, organise, participate and promote the activities of the work unit. Develop and maintain relevant links and networks within the region, the department, other government agencies and other entities.
