ECI Technical Director

A fast growing energy business is expanding its utility scale battery portfolio and is looking to bring in a senior technical leader to own the front end of BESS projects. This is a strategic hire focused on early phase technical leadership, decision making and client engagement. The role plays a critical part in shaping project outcomes before delivery begins. The role Lead the technical direction of BESS projects through the ECI phase Own battery and inverter selection and technical due diligence Oversee R0 to R1 to R2 transition and readiness Manage the integration between BESS and BOP, including power plant controller interfaces Coordinate grid study partners and technical consultants Influence scope splits and interface responsibilities across parties Act as the main technical authority for the client during early project phases Identify, manage and mitigate technical and integration risks Support the move towards expanded EPC capability, including inverter supply on selected projects Once projects move into full delivery, this role steps away from day to day execution and moves to the next front end opportunity. What we are looking for Strong background in utility scale BESS projects Experience with both battery and inverter technologies Clear understanding of the GPS process and grid connection requirements Experience navigating the transition from R0 to R1 and R2 Strong interface management between BESS and BOP Market recognised technical credibility Experience working on the developer side, or closely with developers Able to lead complex discussions and influence decision making Comfortable operating at a senior, client facing level This is not a detailed design role. It is a highly technical, strategic leadership position.
