Contract Manager

The AIR 5428 Pilot Training System partners with the Australian Defence Force for development of its military pilot workforce at four operating bases, RAAF Base East Sale, RAAF Base Pearce, RAAF Base Edinburgh, and RAAF Base Williamtown. Implementing a tailored learning solution, Lockheed Martin leads the delivery of this approach for all Royal Australian Air Force, Royal Australian Navy and the Australian Army candidates; as well as supporting operations for other key Australian Defence Force aviation units. The Contract Manager is responsible for providing commercial/contracts management and oversight to the AIR5428 Pilot Training System (PTS) Program. The role supports the achievement of LMA’s business objectives through effective contract management, sound commercial judgement/advice and successful program delivery. Key responsibilities include managing the AIR5428 PTS and related contracts, providing commercial/contractual advice and guidance, supporting proposal/survey & quote development, leading customer engagement, and coordinating internal stakeholder input and approvals. Location of this role can be either East Sale, VIC, Adelaide SA or Melbourne VIC . Your responsibilities will include: AIR5428 PTS Program activities: Provide commercial oversight and governance across the AIR5428 PTS Program, ensuring all contractual obligations are effectively managed and aligned with business policies and objectives Lead contract performance management, including negotiation, change control, and development of commercial solutions to improve delivery, manage risk, and optimise revenue. Support program stability and growth by identifying new business opportunities, efficiencies, and value-add services in collaboration with key stakeholders Work closely with internal teams including Supply Chain, Finance, Business Operations, and Export/Import to ensure consistent and compliant commercial, financial, and contractual arrangements across the program Review and evaluate contractual strategies to reduce business risk and increase revenue Customer / Contract Shaping Partner with the Program Manager to build strong customer relationships, shape contractual strategies, and drive commercial outcomes that enhance program delivery and customer satisfaction Contribute to commercial solutions to improve delivery performance, reduce costs, address performance issues and increase business revenues Contribute to Contract performance via business cases, negotiations and contract change proposals Work collaboratively with Supply Chain to ensure Program commercial arrangements are back to back and consistent with the head contract About you: Proven experience in contract or commercial management, preferably within defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated sectors Strong knowledge of contract law, negotiation principles, and commercial risk management Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with customers and internal stakeholders Experience supporting bids, proposals, and contract change processes A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on achieving business outcomes Special Requirements: Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
