About the role The Compliance Manager is primarily responsible for executing the Group's compliance framework and providing timely, balanced and pragmatic compliance advice. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, this position will embrace due diligence, investigation, and preparation of regulatory attestation for regulator stakeholders including ASIC, APRA, ATO and OIAC. Responsibilities Compliance Framework Maintain up‑to‑date compliance procedures and guidance material. Prepare management and board committee reporting, including the ability to succinctly communicate key messages relevant to the target audience, and identify, explore and resolve key themes and trends. Compliance Advice Provide contemporary and balanced day‑to‑day compliance advice to support the Group achieving its objectives, promote effective member outcomes in business efficiencies and procedures, by applying a risk lens. Escalate complex compliance advice matters, as identified. Provide compliance expertise, training and awareness to the business and relevant stakeholders, to improve compliance, and foster a risk‑aware culture. Compliance Assurance Reviews Challenge proposed business practices if a conflict arises with a regulatory requirement or leads to a material compliance risk, and work with the business to identify a more balanced solution. Conduct compliance reviews through investigation, monitoring and testing, providing appropriate findings and recommendations to the Head of Compliance and relevant senior stakeholders and manage through to completion of agreed actions. Review incident data to identify and assess potential regulatory breaches and elevate for further assessment and analysis. Ensure appropriate remediation actions are escalated and effectively manage areas of potential control weakness and/or non‑compliance. Regulatory Change Identify new/amended regulatory changes, including updating the Regulatory Change Register and ensure the register remains current. Engage/ensure that the appropriate Group industry regulatory consultations and scheduled responses for oversight. What you’ll bring Tertiary degree in compliance, risk management, law, business or other relevant discipline. Significant (3+ years), proven experience in compliance, working in the banking, insurance or financial services industry. Strong knowledge of credit, financial services, privacy, AML / CTF, FATCA / CRS, and prudential compliance. Strong knowledge of regulatory licensing requirements. The ability to develop and cultivate strong business relationships. Well‑developed time management and organisational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to take a lead in driving and providing compliance and regulatory coaching. Excellent analytical skills including the ability to gather, analyse, and evaluate facts, and prepare a succinct summary of findings. High level of attention to detail. Communicates with influence; and negotiates with skill and ability to articulate a position. Analytic and logical approach to work and demonstrated history of sound judgement.
