About the Role DFES is seeking a highly organised and motivated Events and Awards Assistant to join our Sponsorship, Awards and Events team. This role is ideal for someone with strong administration abilities, excellent organisational and time‑management skills, and a high level of attention to detail. You will assist with the development and delivery of a range of corporate events and awards, including the WA Fire and Emergency Services Conference, WA Fire and Emergency Services Awards, International Firefighters’ Day Memorial Service and the Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards. You’ll also help recognise the dedication of DFES staff and volunteers by assisting with the processing and administration of long‑service medals and other formal recognition. A core part of your role will involve providing high‑quality administrative support, including financial administration such as raising purchase orders and processing invoices, data entry and database management, managing shared inboxes and handling enquiries, and coordinating meetings and taking minutes. Qualifications A relevant qualification or experience in events is highly desirable but not essential. If you have exceptional attention to detail, strong administrative skills, and can manage competing priorities in a busy environment, we’d love to hear from you. Employment Conditions and Additional Information DFES is an emergency services organisation and all employees may be required to work or travel outside of normal business hours to assist with emergencies, and additional allowances may apply. This position also participates in a public information on‑call roster, which includes evening, weekend and public holiday work when rostered. National Police Certificate A condition of employment for new employees of DFES is that a current National Police Certificate (less than 3 months old) is provided prior to commencement. Choice of Super The Fire and Emergency Services (Superannuation Fund) Regulations 1986 prevent DFES from offering choice of super for permanent appointments. Those appointed permanently have only the following two options: Remain with their existing GESB Superannuation account; or Join the Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Fund (for more information). Those appointed on a fixed‑term contract have choice of super, however if converted to permanent, employees will need to choose one of the two options listed above.
