Director, Educational Data & InsightsEmployment Type: Full-Time (35-hour week)Duration: Continuing RoleLocation: Kensington NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working)Why your role mattersThe Director, Educational Data & Insights manages a small team that is responsible for internal and external student surveys. This role will analyse and present survey data to provide insights to University portfolios, Faculties and committees whilst also contributing to UNSW KPI’s and strategic priorities.Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Quality, the Director role requires a diverse skill set encompassing data analysis, communication and visualisation whilst being proficient in quantitative and qualitative analysis. In addition, we are seeking an established people leader with the ability to engage, guide and motivate a dedicated team.The Director plays a pivotal role in informing strategic decisions and enhancing the University's academic and student support initiatives, and must be enthusiastic about using data to bring about meaningful change.Specific accountabilities for this role include:Effectively communicate findings and recommendations through compelling and informative data visualizations, presentations, reports and dashboards tailored for diverse internal and external audiences, and stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in data analysis, visualization, and presentation techniques.Collaborate with internal stakeholders including academic units, UNSW Divisions, and senior leadership to understand data requirements and address key challenges, and cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external partners to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.Lead a team responsible for collecting, analysing and communicating data pertaining to student experience, and integrate it with data on academic progression and enrolments.Develop and implement data collection strategies and timetables, and analysis methodologies to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.About You:You will hold a relevant degree with extensive experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and experience alongside:Proven experience in data analysis, preferably in higher education or customer experience, and demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and compelling visual narratives.Proficiency in data management, statistical analysis tools, and familiarity with current coding techniques and approaches.Exceptional verbal and written communication, research, and problem-solving skills, including strong report writing and documentation skills and demonstrated ability to summarise complex material effectively and present key issues for a wide range of audiences.Strong leadership and people management skills, with demonstrated success in developing, supporting, and motivating teams.A focus on detail with a commitment to ensuring data accuracy, reliability and security.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities.High-level interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective collaborative professional relationships with senior University staff and external stakeholders.Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis techniques is advantageous.An understanding of issues relating to educational quality in tertiary education is advantageous.The OrganisationUNSW isn’t like other places you’ve worked.
