About the role We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, friendly and self‑motivated Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant to support residents in participating in activities in line with their individual needs and care plan. Working as part of a friendly and close‑knit team, your focus will be: Work with the resident to identify strategies and opportunities that maximise engagement and promote healthy lifestyle practices. Organise activities for people living with dementia, aiming to maintain independence using familiar routines and existing skills and promote healthy lifestyle practices. Use appropriate methods to assess residents’ leisure and health needs according to specific purpose and under the guidance of an experienced worker. Collect and review relevant information to establish the needs of residents, based on the leisure and recreation assessment. Develop strategies to deal with challenging behaviour and maximise resident participation in activities, evaluating the effectiveness of strategies as indicated by the response. Week 1 & 2 Wednesdays 9am to 5pm Thursdays 9am to 5pm About you You are an enthusiastic, motivated, self‑starter who is eager to develop a career in aged care. To be considered for the role, you will need: Previous experience (2+ years) in a similar role in an aged care setting (preferred) Certificate III in Leisure and Health or equivalent Current First Aid Certificate Previous experience working in an aged care facility Demonstrated initiative and ability to be self‑motivated, work without supervision and promote a positive lifestyle environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Well‑developed prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines Why VMCH?
