We need a Lending Specialist who is experienced in assessing and approving home loan applications. It is not just important that you have held a lending delegation in the past, it is a deal‑breaker. If you have not held a home loan DLA, thank you but please stop reading now, as your application would not be successful. Those who have held a DLA, read on About the role: What would a typical day look like in this role? Firstly, you need to know that it is a very small team, with a very supportive manager, you will definitely be a name and not a number in our environment. The team is comprised of the Lending Services Manager, five Lending Specialists and two Lending Coordinators. Our applications come from two streams – third‑party brokers or our internal Lending Consultants who are taking applications directly from our members. Your day would be a mix of new files for assessment and completing the follow‑up on existing files. Predominantly home loan files, reverse mortgages, and some personal loans. These will include both PAYG and self‑employed applicants. You will have the satisfaction of taking the file from the initial submission all the way through to formal approval, including all the checks, valuations, searches, etc. that this entails. As the role of Lending Specialist is to maximise the growth opportunities for the business, you will use your experience to give advice which helps to structure a deal in the best way possible for both the customer and the business. Aside from your team, your day‑to‑day interactions would be with the Brokers and our Lending Consultants. It will be important that you are keeping them informed of the status of their applications. In addition, you might want to run a few things past the Credit Risk team. That's easy, they're just on the other side of the office, they will be open to having you drop by to discuss any aspect of the file. As they are responsible for Credit Policy, they will welcome your feedback and input. About you: What would a suitable candidate have by way of skills and experience? Australian work rights are required for this position. We have mentioned that you need to have been DLA Holder for home loans You should be a dedicated Financial Services professional with a minimum of 5 years' experience in consumer and mortgage assessment; Have well‑developed communication written and verbal communication skills; You will be able to work collaboratively as part of a team; and Have a demonstrated ability to manage workflows and follow up on issues in a timely manner.
