Melbourne (80% remote) | 15 hours/week | $495 per week (FTE 65k P/A) | Starting 5 Jan | 5 months(potential for extension) This is a (really) rare chance to join the Brown Women Comedy / Australian South Asian Centre team in an operational role. Brown Women Comedy is Australia’s only feminist and besharam (shameless) comedy show featuring under‑represented Indian and South Asian women comedians across major festivals. It’s not just about comedy, dedicated to promoting diversity, feminism, and social change. We use humour as a tool to challenge societal norms and de‑stigmatise taboo subjects around mental health, shame, sexuality, and racism. We’re defining culture, one comedy show at a time. Australian South Asian Centre (ASAC) creates space for South Asian women’s creativity, culture and leadership. ASAC is dedicated to amplifying the voices of South Asian founders, creatives and professionals. Read our impact report here Love storytelling, humour, social media, and creating content that actually makes an impact? We’re looking for someone who’s curious, creative, super pro‑active and passionate about amplifying women of colour (be it comedians, creatives or social entrepreneurs). You’ll be joining a tiny but mighty ops team (our founder, co‑founder & volunteer committee of 4 people), so we’re after someone collaborative, who works at a fast pace and is excited to help shape the next chapter of Brown Women Comedy and Australian South Asian Centre. If you love storytelling, social media, spicy humour and championing women of colour, this might be your perfect gig. Read the position description below or here if you prefer a PDF What you’ll be doing: Content creation, editing, and repurposing across Instagram and LinkedIn (12–16 Instagram posts per month, 4–6 reels per month, Monthly content calendar) Creating a mix of content –from stories of South Asian change makers to comedy content (Think bold. witty. shameless. hilarious. thoughtful. vulnerable. resonant. fresh. honest. relatable. playful. well‑crafted. empowering.) Coming up with content ideas and planning the content calendar (with feedback and support) Writing copy & content for our newsletter and email outreach (monthly newsletter) Scheduling posts and keeping us on track with our content plans. Supporting regular community event promotion (and dreaming up new ones) Doing a bit of admin – like research, reporting, email inquiries, replying to DM’s and campaign tracking Keeping up with social media and digital marketing trends – we’re looking for someone who lives and breathes the internet. Researching international touring and expansion opportunities for BWC You’ll thrive in this role if you: Love learning, experimenting, and giving new things a go Have some basic content creation skills – we use Canva, but we’re not precious about the tools as long as you can make something that works Feel confident filming others and editing short‑form content (you don’t need to be in front of the camera, but behind it is a must) Are comfortable editing and creating shorter reels from longer videos. (think finding the funniest jokes from a one hour set) Are available some weekends or evenings to help capture content (especially during comedy season - mid march to mid April) Are super organised and get genuine joy from ticking things off a checklist – we live in Monday.com and love a good system Communicate clearly and kindly – we’re a small team, so honesty, clarity, and a respectful, collaborative approach really matter Proactively seek feedback and see it as a chance to grow – we’re always learning too and genuinely welcome feedback on how we can do things better Are genuinely excited about culture, community, comedy, poetry & empowering women of colour Bring big golden retriever energy – kind, curious, enthusiastic, and ready to jump in Meticulous and proactive about documenting systems and processes as you go, and always on the lookout for ways to work smarter – whether that’s through better systems, streamlined workflows, or automating the repeatable stuff where we can (huge bonus if like playing around with Zapier & AI tools) Don’t mind a bit of organised chaos – things move quickly here and no two weeks look the same (for better or worse) Want to be part of something meaningful and help shape the Brown Women Comedy / ASAC story as we grow Perks: The chance to help shape the voice and brand of Brown Women Comedy & ASAC Real, hands‑on experience in a fast‑growing, purpose‑driven feminist org An opportunity where you get to see the immediate impact of your work, you won’t be a cog in a corporate wheel - you’ll be an essential part of our small team with minimal heirachy You’ll be working remotely 80% of the time, forget PT and travel time (& costs), expect to attend events once a fortnight, with the exception of festival period with more regular in person support (25 March - 19 April) Flexible hours that work around your other commitments (across 3 or 4x days per week) Opportunity to grow within the team and take on more responsibilities and hours as we grow Help amplify South Asian women re‑defining the narrative and shaping culture Space to innovate, pitch ideas, and bring them to life A workplace that values accountability, purpose, and snacks A small, values‑led, very ambitious, and fun team that walks the talk and is always working to do business better A team that values your ideas, your culture and gives you feedback to grow. Festival pass to attend any Melb Int Comedy Festival shows for free Keen to apply? We’d love to hear from you. No need for a fancy cover letter – just send us: Your CV or equivalent (website linkedin or proposal if you’re feeling creative) 20% A few examples of work you’ve done 30% Application video - a 2-3 minute video introducing yourself and sharing a few ideas you have for content on BWC. This is the most important part of your application and the best place to show your creativity and pitch yourself) 50% We’re looking for someone to start ASAP and we’ll close applications as soon as we find the right person – so please don’t wait to apply (but no later than 11 Dec). We’re reviewing applications on a rolling basis and will close the role once we find the right person. #J-18808-Ljbffr
