Senior Account Manager — General Insurance Salary: A$150,000–$200,000 + super Employment: Permanent, full-time Office: 5 days in the office, South East Melbourne Potential to obtain equity in the business Posted 8 days ago About the business An established, Australian-owned general insurance brokerage with a long track record and a strong presence in the local market. The brokerage is part of a major broker network, holds the necessary Australian financial services authorisations to advise on general insurance, and services a diverse portfolio of commercial and SME clients. Role overview We’re looking for an experienced Senior Account Manager with proven general insurance broking skills to manage and grow an existing portfolio and to generate new business. You’ll be joining a high-calibre, professional broking team where technical broking, client service and commercial outcomes matter. Key responsibilities Own a portfolio of commercial and SME clients — maintain relationships, review renewals, produce risk advice and keep accurate file notes. Deliver strong client service and timely claims support, working with underwriters and internal colleagues. Prospect, qualify and convert new business opportunities to meet individual and team growth targets. Prepare proposals, negotiate terms with insurers and manage policy placements end-to-end. Mentor and support junior brokers/assistants and contribute to continuous improvement of broking processes. Ensure compliance with licence obligations and the firm’s service standards. What we’re looking for Minimum 5+ years in senior broking roles (Senior Account Manager, Account Director etc) Deep technical knowledge of general insurance products (property, liability, business packs and related lines). Proven track record managing a portfolio and consistently generating new business. Strong written and verbal communication — clear, concise client file notes are essential. Commercial mindset, excellent prioritisation and the ability to act with urgency.
