Audio Visual Technician We’re looking for a proactive professional to coordinate and support commercial venue hire operations and events, ensuring seamless event delivery for both internal and external clients. In this role, you’ll assist with planning audio‑visual requirements and work closely with stakeholders to create outstanding experiences at our unique sites. What the opportunity is Employment with Museums of History NSW. Clerk Grade 3/4. Remuneration package includes salary ($50,794 – $55,620 part‑time equivalent), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. Part‑time ongoing employment at 21 hours per week. The role will work at Museums of History sites across Sydney. What we do Museums of History NSW brings together a portfolio of iconic museums, rich collections and heritage sites, the nation’s oldest archive collection, vital record‑keeping services and expert staff. We bring history to life by sharing the stories of our places and collections. Through the State Archives Collection, we manage NSW’s official documentary heritage, supporting government transparency and the public’s right to access information. These two roles do not just sit side by side – they inform and enrich each other. By preserving and making accessible our places, collections and archives, we create opportunities for people to explore the past and better understand their own place in the world. It is an agency of the NSW Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS). What you’ll do In this role you will support the successful delivery of events involving audio‑visual equipment for commercial and internal venue hire bookings at MHNSW properties and sites. The primary focus of the role is on‑event audio‑visual operations, with secondary duties oriented towards logistics support. Describe a time when you were providing audio‑visual operations on an event or production where an issue arose that was impacting the success of the event. Explain the steps you took to manage the situation, and the outcome of the event. 2. This role will require you to manage competing priorities: on‑event operations, administrative work, and operational support for colleagues. Describe a situation where you had to balance competing concerns, what strategies you used and what impact these had. Essential requirements Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated industry experience. Experience coordinating and delivering detailed audio‑visual requirements for commercial events, particularly in theatreettes and auditoriums. A broad knowledge and understanding of audio‑visual technology and industry‑standard software, including live audio, vision management, multimedia expertise and hybrid/video conferencing capability. Ability to accommodate a work schedule focused on core business hours but including variable start and end times. Ability to manage lifting, carrying, standing, kneeling and moving around heritage sites both internal and external environments. Current NSW driver’s licence. Willingness to work across and ability to travel to multiple work locations.
