Our team The Positioning Australia Program Management Office (PA PMO) within Space Division provides specialist advice and program management services to facilitate delivery, governance and assurance and whole‑of‑life capability management of Geoscience Australia’s Positioning Australia Program. The PA PMO supports Chief of Space Division and its two Branches, Positioning Australia Branch (PA) and SouthPAN Branch, responsible for delivery of the Program. As a small team, the PA PMO combines diverse skillsets including procurement and program and project management, strategic coordination, business development, commercial, scheduling, financial management and governance to deliver the services. The role The Procurement and Contracting Official will play a pivotal role in delivering effective procurement and contract management outcomes for the Positioning Australia Program. You will lead and support the delivery of complex contract management activities across the Positioning Australia Branch, whilst also providing specialist advice across procurement compliance, contractor engagement, and broader governance functions. This role requires sound judgment, attention to detail and the ability to balance competing priorities, ensuring efficient, compliant and value for money outcomes that directly support Positioning Australia. Lead and support the delivery of complex contract management activities. Provide specialist advice on procurement, contracting and compliance matters to support governance and decision making. Manage contractor engagement and relationships to ensure effective service delivery and value for money outcomes. Monitor and support compliance with procurement frameworks, policies and legislations. Prepare and review procurement documentation, contracts, reports and related correspondence. Build and maintain productive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen procurement and contracting process across the Positioning Australia Program. The role will report to and work closely with divisional and organisational finance and procurement managers. Identify need for change and initiate change when required; reschedule and reorganise work to reflect changes in priority. Present messages confidently and select the appropriate medium for conveying information; focus on clear communication of key points. Demonstrate flexibility with day‑to‑day work changes, shifting priorities and periods of uncertainty. Understand the strategic objectives of the organisation; identify broader influences that may impact on achievement of work objectives; contribute to the development of plans, strategies and team goals objectives. Adhere to the APS Values and Code of Conduct and consistently behave in an honest, ethical and professional way. Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications Experience in procurement and contracting with transferable skills to navigate a complex contract management environment. Relevant tertiary qualifications and work experience in a technical‑based business environment. Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
