Base pay range A$150,000.00/yr - A$160,000.00/yr Principal Data Consultant at Talent Insights - dbt | Databricks | Looker | Snowflake Senior Data Engineer ( GCP / Dataflow / Mongo DB) Sydney / Hybrid Talent Insights is looking for a Senior Data Engineer ( GCP / Dataflow / Mongo DB) who thrives in the real-time data enablement space - someone who loves building and optimising data services that directly power production systems and personalised experiences. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, orchestration, and activation - ideal for someone who enjoys working close to the business and enabling real impact through data. Day to day responsibilities for the Senior Data Engineer ( GCP / Dataflow / Mongo DB) Enable and service production systems through reliable, high-performance data solutions Design, build, and maintain real-time data aggregation and enrichment pipelines using Dataflow / Apache Beam Support personalisation features and downstream functionality across key data-driven applications Work across cloud-based environments (preferably Google Cloud Platform) leveraging tools like BigQuery for analytics and enablement Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable data models Work with unstructured (MongoDB, Firestore) and key-value databases (Cassandra, Bigtable) Ensure strong data governance, validation, and evolution practices are embedded in all solutions Continuously optimise data processes for scalability, performance, and maintainability You’re someone who loves working on data that’s used in production, not just stored in a warehouse. You enjoy seeing how your work directly impacts end users and product outcomes. Required experience for the Senior Data Engineer ( GCP / Dataflow / Mongo DB) includes: Proven experience in data engineering, particularly across real-time or streaming workloads Hands‑on experience with Dataflow / Apache Beam, and ideally BigQuery Strong understanding of data modelling and orchestration in production environments Experience with unstructured and key-value databases such as MongoDB, Firestore, Cassandra, or Bigtable Strong working knowledge of cloud environments, ideally GCP (experience with AWS or Azure also valued) A solid grasp of data governance, validation, and evolution practices A collaborative mindset, and confidence working with both technical and non-technical teams You’ll be joining a team that’s genuinely shaping how data is used to power personalisation and smarter systems. The focus is on enablement over infrastructure, working in a space that values impact, innovation, and simplicity over over-engineering.
