The Police Psychology Unit is a dynamic team of leaders and mental health clinicians whose role is to support, enhance and develop the psychological wellbeing of Victoria Police employees. The team works to ensure that Victoria Police employees are well equipped to manage the varied psychological demands of their roles and requires Unit members to have a diverse skill set of clinical and organisational skills. Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements. Responsibilities Your duties will include: Providing a range of clinical services including support and consultation, clinical assessment and other therapeutic interventions to Victoria Police members and public service staff. Providing immediate and autonomous crisis intervention involving complex trauma and psychological issues. Providing state‑wide critical incident response including the provision of psychological first aid. Providing advice and consultancy services to senior management and supervisors about clinical and organisational psychology matters. Developing professional services with a diverse range of squads and work units across Victoria Police including developing and implementing support programs. Establishing working relationships and networks with Victoria Police personnel and external stakeholders. Participating in a rostered 24 hour on‑call service for crisis and critical incident response. About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: High‑level clinical expertise and demonstrated ability in the provision of clinical risk assessments, interventions, and case management. Demonstrated experience in providing critical incident response and psychological first aid. Demonstrated ability to provide immediate and autonomous clinical judgement and crisis intervention in highly stressful, complex and sensitive situations. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage workload including prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines. Highly developed communication and presentation skills. The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders. Full registration as a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse or Mental Health Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); or Registration as a Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Further Information One (1) x full‑time, fixed‑term position available (end Sep 2026). This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands. This position requires on‑call work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement). The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre‑employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
