About the Role The Bookkeeper & BAS Agent is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and delivering timely bookkeeping and tax reporting functions. Key Responsibilities Bookkeeping: Record day-to-day financial transactions in Xero including sales, purchases, expenses, payments and receipts Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage invoices and ensure they are processed and paid on time Bank Reconciliations: Conduct regular reconciliations to maintain accuracy of financial records Payroll: Process wages, tax, leave entitlements and superannuation Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports including income statements and balance sheets Integrity: Identify and report financial irregularities or discrepancies to management BAS Agent Functions: Prepare, lodge and advise on BAS statements and related GST, PAYG withholding, and PAYG instalment obligations GST Compliance: Provide advice on GST compliance and support accurate calculation of liabilities and entitlements Payroll Compliance: Ensure payroll compliance and superannuation guarantee obligations are met Documentation: Collate documentation for BAS reporting and liaise with the ATO as required Support: Support external accountants with year-end tax return preparation and financial statement completion About You Essential Certificate IV in Accounting, Financial Management or Bookkeeping (or equivalent) Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping and tax reporting Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, financial recordkeeping and reconciliations In-depth knowledge of Australian tax regulations, including GST, PAYG and BAS requirements Registered BAS Agent or eligible to be registered High level of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and build respectful relationships Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of the SCHADS Award Commitment to CCPL's values and to working respectfully in Aboriginal community contexts Australian work rights are required for this position Desirable Experience in the not-for-profit or NDIS/community services sector Understanding of remote service delivery environments Knowledge of broader tax planning and compliance (e.g., company tax returns, payroll tax) Why Join Us Opportunity to contribute to the leadership of the organisation in a highly inclusive team Build your career as the organisation grows and contribute to the strategic direction of the company Supportive, values-driven organisation with a strong culture of collaboration Flexible work arrangements Competitive salary in line with experience How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your suitability for the role to ***********@countryconnect.org.au.
