Senior Learning Advisor, Youth Detention (YD) Training, Youth Detention Operations (YDO) develops learning materials and resources through design and research and provides learning and development support, training and mentoring to youth detention staff. Responsibilities Design training materials and resources based on research and evidence to enhance service delivery in accordance with best practice. Provide learning support to both operational and non-operational staff who provide frontline service delivery in Queensland Youth Detention Centres (YDC). Explore practice challenges, inconsistencies and complexities with respect and curiosity, to understand practice gaps between policy, procedures and practice frameworks. Enhance training materials and delivery to contextualise trauma-informed practice and cultural responsivity, ensuring it is embedded throughout all training content. Draw on practice experience and professional networks to contribute to building YDC staff capability and confidence across all relevant and intersecting aspects of their role and assist staff to translate knowledge and skills to applied frontline youth detention practice, in accordance with legislation, policy, procedures and practice guidelines. Participate and contribute productively as a member of the YD Training team to cultivate culturally-led, inclusive, collaborative and responsive working relationships within the team and with key partners and stakeholders. Collaborate with Youth Justice central, regional and YDC stakeholders and other relevant partners to provide integrated learning and development for YDC staff across the state. Qualifications Possession of a tertiary degree relevant to the role such as social work, behavioural science, social science, criminology, or other recognised degree.
