Head of Media and Public Relations Silicon Quantum Computing – Sydney, New South Wales, Australia – Salary: A$110,000.00-A$140,000.00 Company Overview Silicon Quantum Computing is pioneering the future of quantum technology. As the world’s first company to manufacture qubits with atomic precision, we’re delivering quantum advantage today, not decades from now. Founded by Professor Michelle Simmons, SQC has achieved major breakthroughs, including the first single-atom transistor and the first integrated circuit built with atomic precision. Our Chair, Simon Segars, former CEO of ARM, brings deep global experience as we scale our technology and commercial impact. Our quantum machine learning chip, Watermelon, is already accelerating AI in ways classical systems can’t match. We’re generating significant revenue and working closely with multinational partners to solve complex problems with quantum solutions. SQC is a fast-paced, high-accountability environment where people grow quickly and contribute meaningfully. If you’re excited by deep tech, ambitious about your career, and ready to help shape the future of computing, we’d love to hear from you. Role Overview The Head of Media and PR is responsible for shaping, managing and amplifying SQC’s public relations internationally, ensuring our announcements, reports, and public engagements are clear, credible, and aligned to our mission. This role combines PR and media relations, building international relationships, storytelling and expertise with a modern marketing suite. You will strengthen SQC’s reputation as a global quantum leader. Responsibilities Develop and execute an integrated media and communications strategy that supports SQC’s mission, business goals, and reputation. Act as the primary point of contact for media – building strong, trusted relationships with international journalists across science, technology, business, and policy beats. Oversee the planning and execution of all major announcements, reports, and company updates – track and iteratively improve distribution. Identify proactive opportunities in established or new and emerging platforms for coverage and thought leadership to position SQC as a global voice in quantum computing. Develop compelling and accurate content that translates scientific and technical achievements into clear, engaging stories for diverse stakeholder audiences – including media, investors, government, and the wider public. Draft, oversee and organise all media materials including press releases, statements, talking points, Q&As, backgrounders, and feature stories. Work closely with the CEO and senior leaders to ensure consistency of tone, message, and timing across internal and external communications. Support the preparation of executives and researchers for interviews, speaking engagements, and media appearances. Lead the end-to-end management of SQC announcements and public reports – coordinating internal stakeholders, approvals, execution and performance tracking. Oversee the communications approach for corporate and scientific milestones, funding rounds, and partnership announcements. Develop media engagement plans for the release of reports, publications, and government updates. Track, evaluate and report on media coverage, sentiment, and performance against objectives. Manage relationships with external communications partners where relevant. Provide strategic communications advice to the CEO and Leadership Team. Promote a culture of clear, disciplined and proactive communication across SQC. Experience & Qualifications 7+ years’ experience in media, corporate communications, or public affairs, ideally in deep tech, science, research, or innovation environments. A tech-native and data-driven approach with a history of channel optimisation. Demonstrated success managing major announcements, media briefings, and issues management for a complex or high-profile organisation. Excellent written communication skills – capable of distilling complex technical or scientific information into accessible, compelling messages. Established relationships with international and Australian media across technology, business, and science sectors. International experience and relationships are a strong plus. Strong strategic judgment, stakeholder management skills, and discretion. Recruitment Process For roles at SQC, expect 3-4 interviews, meeting a few members of the team and focusing on your core eligibility for the role, your skills and how they align, and finally your values and how they align. We’ll give you a more specific run‑through if you’re successful in making it to the first interview. As part of our obligations to our clients, we require that successful candidates submit to background checks, including a National Police Check, Right to Work checks, as well as employment and qualifications verification. We won’t contact anyone until we’re confident there’s a fit between SQC and yourself. How to Apply The best and simplest way is to apply directly here, rather than messaging anyone on the SQC team directly. If you have any questions that you’d like answered before committing to applying, please feel free to email us at Important Note This position may require access to export‑controlled information (ECI) subject to EAR and ITAR. Final employment decision is contingent upon satisfactory completion of export control screenings and obtaining any necessary export licenses or approvals, based on nationality, citizenship, and other factors considered by applicable export control regulations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
