Fountain Gate Secondary College is located in the City of Casey in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, approximately 40 kilometres from the Melbourne Central Business District. The school was registered as a Year 7-12 provider in 2009, and prior to that, was a Year 7-10 campus of Eumemmerring College. Enrolments are approximately 1222 students. Fountain Gate Secondary College provides a Year 7 to Year 12 learning program through the Victorian Curriculum, the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Victorian Certificate of Education Vocation Major (VCE‑VM) and a range of Victorian Education and Training (VET) offerings. Demonstrated capacity to provide tailored, individual support to instrumental music students in a school setting. SC2. Demonstrated capacity to work as a member of the performing arts team. SC3. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills and high‑level interpersonal skills including the capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and members of the broader community. SC4. Possess the technical knowledge and expertise in drum kit and percussion instruments. SC5. Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement ensemble programs for instrumental music students in a school setting to further students’ opportunities for performance. Role The successful applicant must be able to instruct and demonstrate the instrument at all levels from beginning to advanced levels in a range of styles, incorporating traditional and contemporary methods. The College requires all instrumental music staff to demonstrate a high level of competency in instruction of instruments in groups. The position also involves rehearsal and direction of ensembles and concert nights as directed. The applicant must demonstrate effective attendance records for their students and strategies to engage with non‑attendance. The applicant must demonstrate an ability to monitor student achievement and frequent communication to the Instrumental Music Coordinator. Responsibilities Direct instruction of drum kit and percussion instruments to groups of students and individuals. Rehearse and contribute to ensemble programmes. Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Music curriculum area within the school. Undertake other related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal. Comply with the timetable and professional ethos of the school.
