As Region Manager of the North and Northwest teams based in Townsville you will lead and manage a team in the delivery of departmental programs and initiatives to local governments providing high-quality, professional and effective client‑focused services and advice. Northern Region has Offices located in Cairns and Townsville and services 37 Local Government Areas across the north of the State. Build and maintain cohesive and functional relationships across Local Government Division Maintain expert knowledge and understanding of the local government sector, lead and manage departmental officers, in order to build council capability and provide advice to and from the Department on a range of matters (including Council statutory obligations, governance, project management and financial sustainability issues), ensuring that quality, timeframe and departmental standards are met. Demonstrate leadership by sharing insight and proactively advancing key priorities. Lead and manage cross‑divisional teams that are established to develop and implement effective action plans to support Councils that require intensive support. Effectively lead and manage the day‑to‑day operations of a team of staff including project management and monitoring of funded projects. Demonstrate high‑level communication and relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders and clients. Lead the delivery of training activities, workshops, meetings, seminars and events. Duties may vary from time to time. You may be required to perform a range of tasks that are outside your main list of duties, but are within the limits of your skill, competency and training, or are incidental and peripheral to your main duties.
