Location: Brisbane, QLD Contract duration: 10-month contract with possible extension Flexibility: Hybrid working arrangements Our Client: A large government organisation undergoing a major Cyber Security uplift, focused on remediating vulnerabilities and enhancing system security across a broad technology stack. The role: As a System Administrator (Vulnerability Specialist), you'll be at the forefront of cyber resilience, driving remediation and patching initiatives across diverse systems. Reporting to the Cyber Security Director, you'll implement patching strategies, automate deployments, and improve security posture in line with the ACSC Essential 8 framework. Responsibilities Remediate vulnerabilities through OS and application patching, upgrades, and configuration changes. Lead the full lifecycle of vulnerability remediation: planning, testing, change control, and implementation. Automate patching for servers, workstations, mobile, and IoT devices. Configure and manage patch deployment platforms like Intune, Azure Update Manager, and GPO. Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to improve compliance and reduce risk. Use scripting and policy enforcement to drive secure configurations across all devices. Contribute to policy and process improvements aligned with ITIL/ITSM frameworks. Qualifications 5+ years in System Administration or IT Operations across complex environments. Strong expertise in patching, upgrades, and enterprise infrastructure security. Hands‑on with Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL, VMware, Commvault, and Group Policy. Skilled in Intune, Azure Update Manager, server monitoring, and automation tools. Experience with scripting and Linux proficiency for automation and remediation tasks. Proven problem‑solving under pressure with knowledge of ITIL/ITSM frameworks.
