The Department of Health, led by the Director General, is the system manager responsible for strategic direction, management and performance of WA's public health system, ensuring delivery of high‑quality, sustainable, safe and timely health services. WA public health system employs approx. 59,000 staff across metropolitan, regional and remote areas covering 2.5 million km². Position Profile The Deputy Director General, Public and Aboriginal Health Division | Chief Health Officer provides high‑level leadership and vision for public health in Western Australia, and serves as the Chief Health Officer for the community. The role requires strategic leadership at state or national level, engagement with technical experts and leaders in government and health sector, proactive problem solving, and public spokesperson duties with confidence and excellent judgement. Responsibilities Lead system‑wide public health reform initiatives to promote health and prevent disease and manage health risk. Communicate with stakeholders, manage relationships and negotiate effectively. Inspire and drive high‑performing teams. Apply analytical, strategic and problem‑solving skills to complex issues.
