The Opportunity: We’re seeking an early‑career GIS Analyst with enthusiasm and technical skills in spatial data science, remote sensing, and environmental modelling. The role supports applied research, product development, environmental analysis, and field monitoring—ideal for someone passionate about innovation and turning complex data into insights for sustainable land, water, and carbon management. The Role: Spatial and Environmental Data Analysis: Use GIS tools (e.g. ESRI, mobile data capture) and remote sensing (satellite, UAV, LiDAR) to support environmental assessments, modelling, and reporting across vegetation, soil, water, and carbon applications. Scripting, Automation & Tool Development: Develop and automate geospatial workflows using Python, ArcPy, or R; apply ML/AI techniques for image classification and predictive modelling; contribute to the development of consulting products and tools. Remote Sensing & UAV Operations: Plan, conduct, and process UAV‑based LiDAR and imagery surveys; analyze and integrate UAV data with external datasets for environmental monitoring. Sensor & Monitoring System Integration: Assist with the design, deployment, and maintenance of environmental monitoring systems, including telemetry, soil sensors, RTK GPS, and field instruments. Innovation & Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop new models, methods, and insights that support Verterra’s ecological engineering goals and enhance project delivery. About You: Degree in Engineering, Science, Geospatial, or related technical field Proficient in ESRI GIS and mobile data tools (e.g. Field Maps, Survey123) Skilled in Python and/or R, with ArcPy experience Experienced in remote sensing data (satellite, UAV, LiDAR) and analysis Strong communicator with a collaborative, problem‑solving mindset Familiar with ML/AI techniques and environmental modelling (e.g. erosion, carbon, water quality) Understanding of telemetry systems and sensor integration UAV pilot accreditation and experience (desirable) Consulting or applied environmental project experience (desirable) The Benefits: Work with a committed and collaborative team on exciting projects.
