VaynerMedia is part of the VaynerX family of companies. Role Summary We’re looking for a Sydney‑based Media Director to lead media insights, measurement strategies, and client/partner relationships. The Media Director will manage a Paid Media division of Senior Analysts and Managers and will be a trusted leader within the organization. Responsibilities Ensure media plans are of the highest standard, assist in presentation material creation, and provide strategic guidance on reporting calls with clients. Oversee a team of media analysts focused on 1‑3 + clients, providing leadership, mentorship, vision, and technical expertise, working with HR and other teams to foster career growth and a positive work environment. Embed a true leadership mentality and devote time to making the team successful. Contribute to company growth, empowered to make decisions best for the long run. Oversee execution by setting up process and clear lines of communication. Update performance benchmarks and share digital platform updates internally and externally with client partners. Manage negotiations for high‑value and/or complex packages. Approve all recommendations and presentations before sending to the client. Delegate work effectively and deliver seamless client work. Foster an environment that encourages intelligent risk‑taking, innovation, and creativity. Lead interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, developing and evaluating team members. Lead cross‑LoB buying deliverables. Lead by example in terms of attention to detail, work ethic, empathy, and professionalism. Act as a key contact for client and platform partners, operating as a go‑to voice and leader for them. Develop and deliver senior‑level, sophisticated media investment strategies to clients, derived from industry insights and best‑in‑class expertise. Collaborate across disciplines to craft holistic omnichannel media strategies rooted in tangible business outcomes for large brands. Provide actualized spends for client invoicing and spend trackers. Operate as a “player/coach”, able to jump in and keep campaign work moving in the right direction. Takes responsibility for and rectifies mistakes or errors made by team members, implementing standards to prevent recurrence. Navigates a portfolio of brands within a larger conglomerate to build strong relationships. Proactively bring new/existing opportunities to clients, pushing the envelope of media excellence. Continuously strive for improvement across all team processes. Provide clear delegation of responsibilities and set expectations for success. Lead client communication around scope agreements, finance and billing, working closely with FinOps to manage billing and revenue. Proactively identify client business needs to sell‑through incremental campaign opportunities. Qualifications Experience working in the Australian advertising media landscape, planning and buying both digital and ATL media. Minimum 6 + years of industry experience with a proven track record of executing large‑scale digital media programs that drive tangible outcomes. Strong network of media and marketing professionals in Australia, including major publishers and brands. Advanced written, presentation and general communication skills. Experience dealing with non‑core buying teams (media & communications planning, analytics, traditional media buying). Proven ability to think strategically, leveraging unique insights for disproportionate success. Examples of adopting new/emerging platforms to drive media innovation. Experience leading and managing teams of at least 6‑8 individuals. Infectious smile, upbeat demeanor, and warm personality contributing to company culture. Comfortable in fast‑paced environments, working as an integrated team across creative, media and strategy. Professional English required; bilingual a huge plus.
