Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager is responsible for: Leading all engineering, maintenance and utility operations at the site, including capital planning and execution, maintenance reliability, energy management, process automation, utility operations, site security and facilities management. Supporting technical projects including continuous improvement and technical transfers. The Engineering Manager is a member of the Site Leadership team and drives key strategic initiatives to achieve site objectives for safety, quality, compliance, supply and continuous improvement. Position Responsibilities Capital Projects Develop capital investment plan and budget to meet site strategies and prepare capital project applications. Ensure that all capital projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the required quality. Maintenance Develop and implement plant maintenance policies and procedures for equipment and facilities. Develop and implement an effective reliability maintenance program to ensure the high availability of critical equipment. Utilities and Facilities Manage the operation of utilities, including wastewater treatment, to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations in compliance with regulations. Manage resources, materials and energy consumption and drive the site sustainability program. Manage site facilities including building maintenance, site security, gardening, pest control and other site services. Ensure facilities, equipment and maintenance activities are fully compliant with GMP, Quality Systems, EHS SOPs and EHS regulations. Promote the use of operational excellence tools to ensure competitive advantages in the industry. Develop the engineering teams' capabilities, including the support of individual development plans and on-the-job training for staff. Prepare department budgets and control engineering expenditures within approved budget. Provide support and on-site leadership for colleagues reporting to the Global Manufacturing Technology function. Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement projects. Support new product introductions, and transfers from other manufacturing sites. Education and Experience Minimum Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree. Minimum 10 years professional experience in engineering, and team leadership in manufacturing sites, preferably in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Technical Skills Requirements Solid knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice. Teamwork, collaboration, and the ability to build effective partnerships with both business and technical stakeholders at all levels of an organisation. Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks and complete multiple simultaneous projects on a deadline. Highly analytical with strong attention to detail. Decision maker and great communicator who can present complex information in a simplified manner. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Be able to develop team members, achieve and optimise team performance. Project engineering and project management experience. Site located at a commutable distance from Newcastle, NSW.
