Project Manager

Project Manager (Engineering Experience Desirable) The Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial HVAC and mechanical projects from design to completion up to $2m. This role combines technical engineering knowledge with strong site‑based project management to ensure each project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Manager will oversee subcontractors, liaise directly with clients, manage costs, and maintain compliance with all LCS Air and WHS standards. The ideal candidate will have both engineering qualifications and hands‑on project delivery experience, supported by strong commercial and leadership skills. Key Responsibilities Project Delivery & Management Plan, manage, and deliver HVAC and mechanical projects across commercial, government, and industrial sectors. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts. Manage all site activities including subcontractor coordination, installation oversight, commissioning, and handover. Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents. Ensure all works comply with WHS, QA/QC, and regulatory requirements. Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and labour to align with project programs. Identify and manage project risks with proactive resolution strategies. Engineering & Technical Leadership Apply mechanical and HVAC engineering knowledge to optimise design and installation outcomes. Provide engineering‑based recommendations to improve performance, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness. Support clients and consultants with technical queries, design adjustments, and commissioning requirements. Review and approve engineering documentation, design changes, and shop drawings. Client & Stakeholder Liaison Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and suppliers. Provide regular progress updates and ensure expectations are managed and met. Identify opportunities for additional works or service growth through professional engagement. Attend client and contractor meetings, presenting project status, variations, and key milestones. Team Leadership & Coordination Lead and support site supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors to achieve delivery excellence. Conduct pre‑start meetings, toolbox talks, and regular progress reviews. Foster a positive, safety‑focused team culture with clear communication and accountability. Mentor junior project staff and share technical expertise to strengthen the overall delivery team. Documentation & Reporting Maintain up‑to‑date project records, including cost tracking, RFIs, variations, and progress reports. Approve subcontractor timesheets, progress claims, and purchase orders. Review budgets weekly and report on project financial performance. Ensure all SimPRO data, photos, and documentation are accurately maintained. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on HVAC projects in the construction industry. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to develop and execute detailed project plans. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Demonstrated problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, with a focus on delivering high‑quality outcomes. Familiarity with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering or construction‑related discipline is highly desirable.
