Sky News Australia is looking for a Lifestyle Reporter to join its growing team of journalists writing for SkyNews.com.au. The successful candidate will have a sharp news sense, excellent time management skills and an aptitude to be at the forefront of the biggest breaking news related to the entertainment industry. The Lifestyle Reporter will be passionate about telling stories which matter to Australians and will be interested in celebrities, royals, fashion, health, beauty, and social media trends. While standard working hours will be during traditional business hours, Lifestyle Reporters may have to cover events, including red‑carpet shoots, which can take place during the evening or on weekends. Key Responsibilities Impeccable sub‑editing skills and a proven track‑record of breaking news stories Ability to train staff to ensure tight deadlines are being met while maintaining the accuracy of editorial content Possess mature and seasoned news judgement to help navigate story pitched from the staff and prioritise the most important issues Manage a 7‑day roster to ensure the biggest news moments are appropriately staffed Edit and curate the SkyNews.com.au homepage with the best performing content Use WordPress CMS to build stories, assign them to appropriate sections and liaise with social media teams Understand the immediacy of the digital and television news environments and how best to leverage broadcast content for digital assets Identify newsworthy content from our television channels and ensure this is delivered to our online audience quickly and accurately in the news cycle Understand what content works for which platforms and target content specifically for digital platforms Work in a fast‑paced team environment which involves liaising with the Digital & Video teams and on‑air teams to turn around exclusive content quickly Have the maturity to work with limited supervision while meeting strict publishing targets and deadlines Who are you?
