Animal Control Officer

Responsibilities The role will have a focus on animal control functions through: Active promotion of Council’s Dog Management Policy by responding to animal control matters throughout the Break O’Day municipality including the provision of education and referral to other agencies as required. Enforcement of the Dog Control Act 2000 throughout the municipality that includes conducting patrols, inspections, gathering and presenting evidence for enforcement proceedings and prosecutions in accordance with the Act, as required. Responding to customer enquiries in a timely manner in accordance with Council’s Customer Service Charter. The role also provides scope to assist with the annual Fire Abatement period by monitoring and auditing compliance. The position will require adherence to our organisational values of “Working as a team with open and honest communication; we act with integrity whilst showing respect and being positive and proactive in our actions.” The person we are looking for. We’re looking for someone who’s approachable, practical, and genuinely cares about animals and the community. You’ll be confident around dogs and comfortable talking with all kinds of people from pet owners to community members, to help guide and educate. We value good judgement, fairness, and a calm approach when resolving tricky situations. If you’re motivated, can stay professional and discreet, and are keen to promote responsible dog ownership while working closely with others, you’ll fit right in with our team. Hours This is a part-time job, working up to four days per fortnight. Workdays and hours will be arranged in consultation with your manager. The position also requires flexibility to occasionally work on weekends, public holidays, or outside the usual operating hours of 7:30am to 4:00pm. To facilitate safe efficient work practices, start and finish times may be varied between 7:00am and 7:00pm by mutual agreement. Pay The applicable salary will depend on the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful Applicant. The council pays a superannuation contribution of 12.5% on all wages. #J-18808-Ljbffr
