Economic Development Project Lead - Agri-Food Futures The Yarra Ranges is home to thriving agriculture and food sectors that play a vital and active role in supporting the region’s economy, local jobs, and community wellbeing. As Economic Development Program Lead for Agri-Food Futures, you’ll be at the front line—working directly with farmers, food producers, and local businesses to drive meaningful change. You’ll roll up your sleeves to help implement regenerative agriculture practices, introduce new technologies, and foster practical improvements and land diversification opportunities in day-to-day operations across the sectors to support long‑term viability. This newly created position is embedded within the Economic Development and Investment Team and requires collaboration not just across Council, but out in the field with growers, traditional owners, food innovators, educators, and government partners. You’ll be hands‑on—leading projects to set up a Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub, trialling new pilot programs, and tackling industry challenges as they arise. Whether facilitating workshops, troubleshooting issues with producers, or testing new approaches, you’ll be focused on real‑world results and building strong local networks. This is a full‑time, permanent Band 7 position, offering a salary range between $107,314 and $120,084 per annum, plus superannuation. Experience and skills we’re looking for Direct experience in agri‑food systems, regenerative agriculture, or food innovation—whether working on farms, in production facilities, or with industry partners. Strong practical project management skills and a proven ability to deliver results on the ground. Ability to conduct market analysis, develop investment proposals, and bring ideas to life in real settings. Expertise in stakeholder engagement, with a preference for hands‑on co‑design and workshop facilitation. Understanding of economic development and regional innovation gained through concrete achievements. Clear communication skills and the ability to advocate, report, and connect with people face‑to‑face. Experience sourcing funding and managing grants for tangible, practical initiatives. Excellent organisational and interpersonal abilities, with confidence working one‑on‑one or in small groups with diverse stakeholders.
