Overview The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) is dedicated to providing employees with opportunities to contribute, develop, and thrive while fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. The Role The Industry Regulation and Consumer Protection Legal Division provides accurate, timely, and solution‑focused legal advice to Departmental clients. Advise on the interpretation and application of legislation administered by the Department. Conduct straightforward litigation, including trial counsel in Industry Regulation and Consumer Protection, Building and Energy, and Labour Relations. Provide high‑quality, relevant, and accurate legal advice; conduct criminal prosecutions with appropriate supervision. Appear as counsel and represent the Department. Prepare a variety of legal documents. Qualifications and Licenses Degree in Law. Current Australian practising certificate that enables engagement in legal practice as a government legal practitioner, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement of employment.
