About The Role : We have an opportunity to join our Community Safety team within our Community Health and Safety Portfolio in the role of Beach Education Officer. This role is part of our annual Beach Education Program. About You : This position would suit someone with strong verbal communication skills and an ability to work autonomously in a fast paced and busy team environment. The successful candidate will : Be confident in navigating challenging conversations with a wide variety of people Have relevant experience in dog training and behaviour to provide beach goers with support in achieving compliance under the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 Work along Charles Sturts 11km of beaches (driving and walking patrols on the foreshore) Issue expiation notices (where necessary) for dogs off lead and / or not under effective control on the foreshore Be passionate about safe and respectful use of our shared public spaces and protecting our wildlife About Our Organisation : The City of Charles Sturt is a vibrant community home to around people across 105 different cultures. About Our Team : The Community Safety Team is focused on adopting a proactive and contemporary approach to effectively deliver a broad range of regulatory related activities while ensuring a positive customer experience. Actively engaged within the community the team builds strong relationships with key stakeholders and customers by offering accurate information and guidance to support compliance with legislative requirements. The Detail : This position is offered on a casual basis working approximately 20 - 40 hours per fortnight (0.5FTE) depending on availability until April 2026, and is classified at Level 2 with the hourly rate being in the range of $49.35 -$53.65 (inclusive of casual loading). This role operates on a seven (7) day roster (including some public holiday work) with hours increasing over the Summer holidays. Please note this role will require some flexibility in availability dependent on weather beach access and activity levels. Given this role requires direct access to the beach we are keeping up to date with the health advice regarding the Algal Bloom. Any new developments in this space will be considered carefully and the role adapted (or program ended) accordingly. This position is identified as a prescribed position and therefore a current unprohibited Employment Screening Check (National Police Clearance) for Regulatory Requirement must be maintained for the duration of the employment period in this prescribed position.
