Senior School Drama Teacher

Firbank Grammar School is seeking a motivated and creative Drama Teacher to join our Performing Arts Department at Firbank Grammar in an ongoing capacity. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Director of Performing Arts to develop an innovative curriculum and implement up‑to‑date teaching and learning practices. As a key member of the Performing Arts Department, you will contribute to the development and articulation of the department's philosophy and vision, ensuring efficient department operations and effective team leadership. Position Details: This is a part‑time, fixed‑term role, for the 2026 school year (27/01/2026 - 18/12/2026). This position has an FTE of 0.23. This position will teach Junior Drama. Salary: $95k - $130k (full‑time equivalent), dependent on experience and qualifications. Applications close: 12th December 2025. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Head of Department to develop and manage the Drama curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, innovative, and aligned with educational standards. Assist in the assessment and continuous improvement of the quality of teaching and learning within the department. Facilitate student learning by employing effective teaching strategies that enable all students to achieve their fullest potential. Participate actively in the development and implementation of the department's philosophy and vision. Ensure efficient operation of the department through effective communication and team leadership. Stay updated with the latest developments in science education and integrate new knowledge into teaching practices. Mentor and support students in their academic and personal growth. Key Competencies and Attributes: Knowledge of pedagogy and recent trends in music education. Skills and understanding required to implement the choral program and the School's Policies. Flexibility, strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. Strong relationship and team building capacity. Outstanding planning and administration skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Qualifications and Experience: VIT First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis Certificates (or willingness to obtain). Proven experience in teaching Drama at a secondary school level. Strong knowledge of curriculum design and innovative teaching practices. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
