Senior Water Resources & Dams Engineer – Beca Newcastle, NSW, Australia HunterH2O is the Australian water business of Beca, an Asia‑Pacific regional leader in design, engineering and advisory services. Overview The Senior Water Resources & Dams Engineer will lead a portfolio of water resource modelling, integrated water resource planning and dam safety management projects. The role is based in Newcastle, but open to Sydney or Brisbane candidates. In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For Delivering water resource and dam safety management projects including water security assessments, water resource planning studies, dambreak assessments, dam safety reviews and dam safety emergency planning. Collaborating with multidiscipline teams to secure, manage and deliver projects. Building and maintaining long‑term client relationships. Developing and mentoring junior engineers. Remaining at the forefront of technological developments, research and industry best practice. About You You will be a Chartered Professional Engineer (or working towards chartered) with a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a closely related discipline. You possess a strong understanding of water industry standards and best practices. You enjoy autonomy, career flexibility, knowledge sharing and have outstanding communication skills. You have experience in a consulting environment, delivering multi‑disciplinary projects across multiple offices, and a track record of successfully delivering water resources/dams projects. Other Ideal Skills And Expertise Include Experience with bulk water supply infrastructure (dams, major pipelines and pumping stations), major stormwater infrastructure (detention basins, culverts, stormwater channels) and water resources/supply systems. Experience in surveillance of concrete and embankment dams / detention basins, including engineering inspections and instrumentation data review. Understanding of risk management and the ability to identify project risks, design‑related risks and major infrastructure risks. Proficiency in industry‑standard software and systems for water resource/security modelling, dambreak modelling, consequence category assessments and dam safety analyses.
