We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Surgery & Anaesthesia Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. This exciting role involves working closely with our specialist surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre nurses to provide gold‑standard care before, during, and after surgery. You’ll play an essential role in maintaining smooth surgical workflows, ensuring patient safety, and delivering exceptional anaesthetic and recovery care. Key Responsibilities Provide high‑level nursing care to patients across the surgical journey — from consultation to pre‑operative preparation through to recovery. Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during procedures, ensuring optimal patient safety and efficiency in theatre. Monitor anaesthesia and patient parameters using advanced monitoring equipment, responding proactively to changes. Maintain sterile fields, manage surgical instrumentation, and support theatre set‑up and pack‑down. Oversee patient recovery, providing attentive post‑operative monitoring and comfort care. Collaborate closely with surgeons, imaging teams, anaesthetists, and other teams to deliver seamless, multidisciplinary care. Contribute to the education and mentorship of veterinary students during their surgical rotations. Uphold hospital protocols and standards to ensure consistent excellence in patient care. About You Qualifications: Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) – essential. Experience: Minimum 2 years in a surgical, anaesthesia, or specialist hospital setting preferred or GP setting for 3 years. Skills: Strong technical skills including anaesthetic monitoring, sterile technique, surgical preparation, and patient recovery. Attention to Detail: Calm, precise, and confident in high‑stakes environments. Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Team Player: Positive, reliable, and committed to contributing to a supportive and high‑performing surgical team.
