School Counsellor & Careers Counsellor – Full Time Doveton Campus | Start Date: 22 January 2026 | About the Role Ilim College is seeking a caring and motivated School Counsellor & Careers Counsellor to join our Doveton Campus team.This dual role (0.6 FTE Counselling / 0.4 FTE Careers Counselling) supports students in Years 5–12 through wellbeing counselling and future-pathways guidance. You’ll help students thrive emotionally, socially, and academically while aligning with Ilim College’s Islamic values. You’ll work closely with the Director of Student Services, Principal, Heads of School and Careers Team to provide holistic support and coordinate wellbeing and career programs across the Middle and Senior School. Key Responsibilities Provide short‑term, confidential counselling to students managing stress, anxiety, peer issues, or family challenges Conduct risk assessments and escalating high‑risk concerns per Child Safety policies Create and maintain Wellbeing and Behaviour Support Plans Support student transitions, restorative practices and peer mediation Deliver the Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework for Years 7–10 Conduct career conversations, aptitude testing (Morrisby) and manage Year 10 Career & Pathways Plans Coordinate Work Experience placements, safety compliance and reflection tasks Provide pathway advice on VCE, VTAC and tertiary prerequisites Run programmes such as Tax File Number and career readiness sessions Organise career‑focused guest speakers, career‑development events, Muslim in Careers Expo and National Careers Week activities Support Parent Information Nights, Senior School Pathways Sessions and excursions to tertiary institutions Partner with staff to identify at‑risk students and develop support strategies Attend Student Support Group (SSG) meetings when required Engage with parents on wellbeing and career guidance Promote programmes via SchoolBox, briefings and visual displays Administration & Compliance Maintain confidential records and prepare wellbeing/career reports Monitor VTAC, CEAV and tertiary updates for Years 7–10 Track student engagement and contribute wellbeing/careers highlights for the Yearbook About You Qualification in Counselling, Career Development, Psychology, Education or a related field (minimum Diploma; Counselling preferred) Strong communication, interpersonal and case‑management skills Knowledge of adolescent development and trauma‑informed practice Respectful of Islamic values and Ilim College ethos Team‑oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced school environment Why Join Us Opportunity to make a genuine impact on students’ wellbeing and future pathways Supportive, inclusive community guided by faith and values Professional development and collaborative team culture Child Safety and Values Ilim College is committed to child safety.
