The City Wine shop is offering an exciting career opportunity for a highly motivated and FOH professional to join our wine team. Our wine & beverage program is the backbone to all our businesses at Spring Street that covers City Wine Shop, European, Melbourne Supper Club, Siglo and our newest venue, Kafeneion. We are looking for someone who loves wine, is approachable, friendly and looking to be mentored in the City Wine Shop with the aim to progress into other areas of the business in a senior wine position. This is a perfect role for someone who has already mastered the art of service as a waiter or bartender in a one hat restaurant or wine bar environment, or a junior sommelier looking for a fresh opportunity. A bit about the position: This is a hands-on role that will start off learning all sections of the floor before being trained to work in the wine team across this multifaceted role as a sommelier and wine retailer. A bit about you: Looking to move into a wine focused role Have a passion and appreciation for food & wine An ongoing commitment to improving your skills and product knowledge Enjoy and thrive working in a busy environment Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop relationships with our guests and work colleagues Hold a WSET 3 certification or Court of Master Sommeliers Certified level (preferred but not essential) Experience working with a POS Inventory systems and also MS Office Suite Have a strong ethic with a get up and go attitude Able to work flexible hours over a five-day roster A bit about what we can offer: Opportunity to work with an extensive wine wall built from the great regions of the world and a dynamic by the glass offering Input in the wine selections on all venue wine lists Access to our wine training program, often including visiting local producers and training sessions with international winemakers Cheese training from our staff at the Spring Street Grocer 5 day roster with no split shifts and 2 straight days off Great tips and great staff discounts on wine to help with your wine journey Opportunities for career growth in one of Melbourne's most established restaurant groups Be careful - Don’t provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs.
