We are the home of harness racing in Victoria.
We are a seven day a week entertainment venue with a range of racing and non-racing offerings including dining facilities, large function & conference rooms, 41 room four-star hotel, busy gaming lounge and sports bar & TAB.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Responsibilities:
The Head of Venue Operations is accountable for:
Contribute to collective development of the venue strategic plan and execute venue operation strategies to achieve revenue growth objectives in accordance with annual plans and budgets.
Ensure venue compliance with governance, legislation, registration and licencing requirements as required by the General Manager Melton as the Nominee.
Manage and lead the venue operations team in all aspects of venue event operation to deliver a seamless transition from sales to event delivery that maximises revenue, ensures exceptional events and facilitates new commercial opportunities.
Lead and manage the venue operations workforce including talent and contractor acquisition, induction, capability development and rostering in collaboration with the people and culture team, for personal growth and to deliver high quality, inclusive, responsive and innovative customer service.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance venue operations processes and service delivery through awareness of best practice contemporary hospitality, food and beverage, functions, gaming and hotel management trends and professional standards and share encourage this within the venue operations team.
Cooperatively contribute to the implementation of HRV major events hosted by the venue, through close collaboration across all functions, internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Actively support collegiate and trusted relationships across the organisation and with key stakeholders including local council, business and community groups, kindred bodies and suppliers to deliver the best outcomes for the venue and the industry.
Model the practical application of Harness Racing in Victoria values.
Budget management and financial accountability for area of responsibility, including data analysis, reporting and proactive corrective action for revenue generation.
ABOUT YOU
You love being part of a team and approach your work in an energetic and positive manner.You will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the smooth running of the area. You will also have the following competencies:
Relevant tertiary qualifications, and or evidence of management and operational experience in a commercial hospitality, function or accommodation venue and specialist knowledge, understanding and experience of TAB/gaming Victorian industry legislation, hotel management, sales, and customer service.
Proven knowledge experience and understanding of governance, compliance, and legislative requirements of the Nominee.
A background of hospitality management experience developing adaptable, partnership, customer and outcomes focussed teams.
Evidence of successful hospitality venue operational and sales revenue, delivery and execution that achieves financial targets.
Proven, engagement and relationship building skills and the ability to represent the venue
Evidence of consultation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with others, negotiate, advocate and exercise influence in various situations.
Proven ability to participate collaboratively and constructively in both management and participant roles within teams of peers, employees, and other stakeholders, as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone.
Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills, the ability to assess options and identify and implement creative, innovative and flexible solutions and provide informed advice
Track record of effective hospitality venue operation budget preparation, forecasting and management.
Demonstrated understandingof and commitment to the embedding of Harness Racing in Victoria values, mission, and vision.
AVAILABILITY
Must be available to work a rotating roster including days, nights, weekends and all major events.
