If you don\'t see an opportunity in your area, please call or email Job Description As a HammondCare Biography Writing or Editing volunteer in Western Sydney your listening and writing skills will allow HammondCare community clients to record their stories, memories, and messages for loved ones. Turn back time with tales and tunes, help capture a lifestory worth sharing We’re looking for a compassionate volunteer to visit a remarkable woman over 6 to 8 weeks and help document her life story. Originally from Sri Lanka, she’s a proud mother of three with a rich and fascinating history. She has lived in Germany, worked as a travel consultant, and holds a deep interest in faith, politics, and culture. She also has a soft spot for rock and pop music Your visits will help transform her memories into a treasured keepsake for her and her family – a gift that lasts a lifetime. Responsibilities Visit the client to collect stories, memories and messages for transcription and editing. Document life stories in collaboration with the client and interview times. Use transcription software and a Dictaphone as part of the process. Maintain respectful, confidential, and ethical engagement with the client and family. Qualifications Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word 50 words per minute typing skills Ability to work independently and problem solve Own car to drive to the home of the client Willingness to learn new technology and software; transcription software and Dictaphone usage Availability for a long-term commitment and up to 5 hours per week Logistics The transcription and editing process can occur in the evenings; face-to-face interview will occur on a weekday (Monday-Friday between 9am-4pm) for one hour When you submit your enquiry, please include details on why you\'re interested in volunteering Impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience for both the person you visit and you.
