Life Stories Biographer Volunteer, Hammond at Home, Merrylands NSW As a HammondCare Biography Writing or Editing volunteer in Western Sydney your listening and writing skills will allow HammondCare community clients to record their stories, memories, and messages for loved ones. Ever wondered what stories a fireman, country music fan, and footy lover might have to share? Join our Life stories program and spend 68 weeks visiting a remarkable man with a rich past. Once a fireman responding to road accidents and a lifelong love of country music, originally from WA and now in Sydney, he enjoys football, lawn bowls, and the sounds of George Strait and Clint Black. Your time will help turn his memories into a lasting gift for his family. Help Capture a Life Well Lived, One Story at a Time Ideally, you'll have the following skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word 50 words per minute typing skills Ability to work independently and problem solve Own car to drive to the Home of the Client Willingness to learn new technology and software; you will be using a Dictaphone and a transcription software program Availability for a long‑term commitment and up to 5 hours per week The transcription and editing process can occur in the evenings, while the face‑to‑face interview will occur on a weekday (Monday‑Friday between 9am‑4pm) for one hour. Regular visits from volunteers help improve the quality of life and help older people feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy to the client you are matched with.
