The school has an enrolment of approximately 406 students across 16 mainstream classes and 3 special education classes. The school is seeking an exemplary and passionate leader with a proven capacity to promote and sustain inclusive education for all students. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong collaborative leadership skills and a deep understanding of current best practice in Special Education, including the effective implementation of inclusive teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of learners. A sound knowledge of a wide range of disabilities and learning difficulties, and the ability to differentiate teaching, learning, and assessment to support student growth, are essential. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and supportive school culture where staff wellbeing, professional learning, and collective efficacy are prioritised to enhance student engagement and achievement. This role requires a leader who is committed to the Disability Standards for Education (2005) and can work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies to promote equitable access and improved outcomes for all students. The position also provides an opportunity to contribute to the school’s Strategic Directions and support the delivery of high-quality curriculum and wellbeing initiatives that drive continuous improvement across the school. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy Specific Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria: Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with moderate/severe intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, physical and sensory disabilities and those who exhibit challenging behaviours. Capacity to develop and lead consistent, high quality transition and integration programs. Proven capacity to lead and support colleagues in planning, teaching, and evaluating practices that foster inclusive and equitable learning environments. Proven ability to build strong partnerships across multiple sectors to support the wellbeing and achievement of students with disabilities. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
