About the Role The Portfolio Manager is accountable for managing a portfolio of renewable energy and clean technology investments within an Impact Team. The role oversees performance of investments from start to finish, ensuring investments deliver against agreed objectives, risks are actively managed, and insights are captured to inform future investment decisions. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Portfolio Manager exercises sound judgement and provides authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders. This role plays a key part in maximising the impact, performance, and integrity of the Renewable Energy Fund’s investment portfolio. Key Responsibilities Own and manage a portfolio of investments within the Impact Team, ensuring delivery in line with organisational objectives, policies, and investment agreements. Negotiate, establish, and manage investment agreements, including responsibility for milestone assessments, approvals, and variation requests within delegation. Proactively monitor project performance, identifying risks, issues, and opportunities, and take timely action to resolve or escalate matters as required. Provide expert, evidence‑based advice on portfolio performance and emerging risks to senior stakeholders. Build trusted relationships with investees, industry partners, and other government agencies to support effective delivery and risk management. Collaborate with internal teams (Investment, Strategy, Portfolio Insights, Communications, Finance, Legal) to ensure seamless management of projects and programs. Represent the Renewable Energy Fund professionally in negotiations and stakeholder forums, ensuring investment agreements protect organisational interests and deliver impact. Exercise professional judgement and decision‑making authority within delegated limits, managing day‑to‑day matters independently. Balance risk and opportunity when making contracting, milestone, and project management decisions. Provide guidance and coaching to Analysts or junior staff, supporting high‑quality delivery and professional development. Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures, and governance frameworks across all portfolio management activities. Ideal Candidate Profile Demonstrated experience managing complex investment, risk & compliance, infrastructure, or energy projects end‑to‑end. Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance risk, opportunity, and delivery outcomes. Proven stakeholder management skills, including negotiation with senior internal and external parties. Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and delivering measurable impact.
