No Offer Description Part Time (0.4-0.6 FTE) 2-year fixed term opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow or Research Focused Academic in Mental Health Epidemiologist / Data Scientist amplify the impact of your research by driving knowledge exchange and shaping practice across academic, clinical, and policy domains Base Salary Academic B $127,436 (Pro rata) or Academic C - $156,103 (Pro rata) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney is seeking a Research Focused Academic to join the School of Psychological Medicine. This research-focused academic role is suited to an emerging authority in mental health epidemiology and/or data science, with a strong national reputation and a record of impactful scholarly activity. The successful candidate will contribute independent and innovative research, provide leadership within the school, and support the university's standing as a national leader in the discipline. You will join a team led by Professor Nick Glozier , a consultant psychiatrist specialising in epidemiology, trials, and health services research. Professor Glozier is a theme leader in the ARC Life Course Centre of Excellence and has secured nationally competitive grants as Chief Investigator. Your key responsibilities will be to: work closely with Professor Nick Glozier and academic peers build and maintain a reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative contributions to research disseminate research knowledge and facilitate knowledge transfer to drive impact lead successful competitive research grants and/or generate other research income mentor and guide lower-level academics contribute to governance, committees, and strategic initiatives engage in translational research and community outreach. About you PhD or similar higher degree in a relevant field for level B and C minimum 3 years post-PhD experience for Level C significant experience conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity strong analytical skills in modelling time trends and prevalence data biostatistics for clinical trials and cohort studies experience working with large, multi-wave datasets (e.g., ABS, AIHW, HILDA) reputation at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge within the discipline established network of academic, industry and professional stakeholders experience supervising and mentoring others developing knowledge of key strategic issues in the higher education sector Highly desirable: experience with data linkage techniques use of health service data familiarity with government data assets (e.g., PLIDA, National Disability Data Asset) experience with meta-analytic techniques.
