Yard & Fleet Mechanical Coordinator

The Role: Starting January 2026 We are looking for a mechanically minded, hands‑on Yard & Fleet Coordinator to take charge of our yard, trucks, and equipment. This is not a desk job – you’ll be working directly with our machinery, tools, and fleet every day. In this role you’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the yard, the upkeep of our vehicles and equipment, and ensuring our fleet is safe, compliant, and ready for work. You’ll also manage mulch logistics, oversee workshop activities, and use our Fleetio system to schedule inspections and servicing. This is a practical, varied position suited to someone with strong mechanical aptitude, good problem‑solving skills, and the ability to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes so our arborists and crews can deliver excellent service. Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the yard and workshop Assist crews by loading/unloading trucks and prepping equipment Keep yard and workshop areas safe, organised, and well maintained Monitor and manage stock of fuels, oils, parts, and consumables Coordinate waste, green waste, and recycling systems Carry out minor servicing, maintenance, and adjustments on trucks, machinery, and tools Perform basic diagnostics on mechanical and electrical faults Conduct welding and fabrication repairs (desirable) Use Fleetio to record inspections, schedule maintenance, and track compliance Liaise with external mechanics, service providers, and subcontractors Manage mulch logistics – loading and delivering to job sites and clients General property and workshop maintenance Conduct stocktakes and manage parts/equipment inventory Operate machinery and assist with site logistics when required Use digital systems for tracking fleet, stock, and scheduling tasks ✅ What You’ll Bring Previous experience in a yard, workshop, or fleet operations role Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability Experience with trucks, machinery, and small engines Welding and fabrication skills (preferred but not essential) HR Licence (essential) Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain) Ability to use digital tools (Fleetio or similar) for fleet/maintenance tracking Physically fit and comfortable with hands‑on outdoor work Organised, reliable, and proactive, with strong attention to detail Familiarity with arborist or civil tools and equipment (an advantage) What We Offer A supportive team environment where your skills are valued Varied, hands‑on work – no two days the same A stable full‑time role in a growing local business Competitive pay based on experience On‑the‑job training and opportunities to upskill PPE and uniforms provided With over 20 years of experience, Tree Care WA is a leading provider of arboricultural services across Western Australia.
