We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally. We are seeking an IT Operations Manager to join our team. The role will be a permanent position reporting directly to our Head of IT. About the role As the IT Operations Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of supporting and leading the IT Operations, ensuring IT Services align with Business needs and strategic goals. Duties and Responsibilities include: Leading and coaching a high‑performing team by building strong structures and values, while driving results through empathy and collaboration. Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to understand needs and align IT strategies with business objectives. Contribute to IT roadmaps and architectural frameworks ensuring compliance with group standards and regulatory requirements. Gather and document business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and oversee successful solution delivery. Manage software evaluation, vendor selection, and governance of process architecture for key platforms. Lead IT projects end‑to‑end, managing timelines, budgets, risks, and organisational change for new systems and processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including safe adoption of emerging technologies such as AI. Ensure effective IT service delivery, performance monitoring, and SLA compliance. Manage internal and external service providers, supporting due diligence and standardised processes. Support audits, control testing, and adherence to governance principles and regulatory requirements. Contribute to Business Continuity planning and IT recovery strategies aligned with organisational objectives. Provide clear reporting to stakeholders and support executive submissions. Deliver training, user support, and local leadership for the IT Service Desk team. About You Experience & Qualifications Technical knowledge including any relevant statutory requirements Demonstrated IT Service Management skills Demonstrated Vendor Management, contract negotiation and execution skills alongside experience managing IT Budgets Excellent analysis and problem‑solving skills Excellent organisation skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively Knowledge of Cloud and Microsoft technologies Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence concepts and Information Security protocols Strategic thinking capabilities Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and spoken Demonstrated people, leadership and relationship management skills Ability to liaise at Board and senior level Demonstrated Project Management skills Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team Personal Qualities Strategic Resourceful Highly self‑motivated ProfessionalVersatileDiplomatic It is a requirement that all applicants have unlimited rights to work in Australia i.e. must either be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency.
