Clinical Nurse - Cath Lab This role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital requires an experienced Clinical Nurse to join our Cardiac Cath Lab team. You will provide high standard patient care, act as a clinical resource, and effectively manage resources to deliver quality patient outcomes. You will work with a dedicated team delivering exceptional care using the latest technology and treatments. The lab supports a wide range of cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures with advanced imaging technology to ensure patient safety. You will assist with pre‑operative and post‑operative care for our surgical patients, providing exposure to specialties including General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Dental, Plastics, ENT, paediatrics and Vascular. Our Day Surgery Unit focuses on diagnostic angiograms. Responsibilities Supervise nursing practice and take responsibility for the standard of nursing care delivered. Act as a clinical resource, maintain and develop clinical skills relevant to your area of practice. Initiate reviews and coordinate care of patients with complex health problems. Serve as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times. Evaluate the quality of nursing practice and participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes. Ensure correct use and care of all hospital equipment by self and colleagues. Actively contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures in your specialty. Ensure documentation meets hospital standards and legal requirements. Be aware of and work in accordance with SGJHC policies, including Equal Employment Opportunity, Confidentiality and Privacy. Prioritise departmental workloads using resources appropriately and cost‑effectively. Coordinate the department effectively to ensure continuity of care and take action on problems encountered. Participate in the performance management of caregivers with the Nurse Manager. Deputise for the Nurse Manager as required. Participate in and take responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions. Assist in developing, implementing and reviewing specific departmental orientation programmes with the Nurse Manager, acting as a preceptor as required. Organise own work and assist colleagues to complete all care duties by end of shift. Supervise the practice of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Patient Care Assistants. Assist the Nurse Manager with the submission of annual capital budget and business plans relevant to the department. Act as shift coordinator as required and in liaison with the Nurse / After Hours Manager to monitor staffing levels and ensure appropriate numbers of skilled staff are available within agreed productivity targets. Qualifications & Experience To succeed you will hold current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse with significant recent post‑registration experience and the ability to practice at an advanced level. Candidates with five years of Cath Lab experience will be highly regarded. You will possess well‑developed leadership skills, the ability to supervise, give direction and delegate, and plan, assess and develop team and individual performance. You will have high level communication skills, knowledge of relevant acts, codes and standards, and the ability to identify and solve problems, including conflict resolution. You will demonstrate commitment to ongoing education and professional development, and to nursing projects improving patient care. Benefits Salary: $103,883 to $110,954 (pro‑rata for part‑time) plus 12% superannuation. A permanent part‑time position, working a minimum of 30 hours per week. Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses; benefits above the FBT cap include novated leasing, work‑related expenses, self‑education and additional superannuation.
