Veterinary Surgery Nurse Assistant - Full-Time Reporting to the Surgery Coordinator, the Veterinary Surgery Nurse Assistant works alongside our veterinarians and nursing staff to deliver gold‑standard care with compassion. The core focus of the role is the cleaning and maintenance of all surgical areas and equipment. With a diverse range of services including internal medicine, surgery, oncology, and more, we work together seamlessly to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. Responsibilities Set up, clean, disinfect, pack down and maintain all surgical areas and equipment including prep, theatre, autoclave room, imaging rooms. Contribute to the upkeep of hygiene and cleanliness within the hospital treatment areas. Ensure thorough cleaning, sterilisation and safe handling of surgical instruments in accordance with infection control protocols and industry standards. Ensure surgical areas are fully restocked and maintained to support efficient clinical operations. Complete tasks on the Nurse Assistant Checklist and Infection Control Checklists in a timely and proficient manner. Occasionally assist with patient restraint for procedures (under supervision) as required. Understand and adhere to BVSC’s governance and WHS policies to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with BVSC’s high standards of care and safety. Work 38 hours per week over 5 days: Monday – Friday 7am – 3pm. Qualifications Energetic, motivated, reliable. Genuine dedication to learning and further professional development. Demonstrate resilience and the ability to adapt quickly to a fast‑paced, dynamic, and high‑pressure environment. Solid understanding of infection control, workplace health and safety principles, and safe manual handling. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Complete physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal). Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks. Must have Certificate II or III Animal Studies. Prior experience in a veterinary setting is an advantage. Why Work With Us?
