Senior Legal Counsel – Investment Bank – Global Markets JS Careers is excited to be recruiting a Senior Legal Counsel opportunity for a global Investment Bank operating in the Australian market. Our client is looking for a VP‑level (8‑12+ years post‑qualification) financial‑markets lawyer with experience covering Derivatives, FICC and/or Swaps products. We seek candidates with a strong preference for exposure to financial markets businesses, whether from in‑house roles within the financial services sector, leading private‑practice firms, or regulatory bodies. You will be a trusted business advisor, providing commercial legal advice on structuring complex financial products and regulatory advice. Your duties will include: Providing commercial legal advice on structuring complex financial products. Conducting legal analysis of company obligations. Handling regulatory and legal matters across financial services, corporate, commercial, competition, technology, intellectual property, information security, privacy and marketing. Responding to regulatory queries as required. Delivering regular reports on regulatory activities and escalating material issues. The ideal candidate will have: 8‑12+ years post‑qualification experience as a financial‑markets lawyer covering Derivatives, FICC and/or Swaps products. Senior experience in financial markets from in‑house, private‑practice or regulatory contexts. Deep understanding of legal, operational, compliance and regulatory issues in financial markets. Proven ability to work with regulators, lawyers and market participants and to leverage professional networks. Experience implementing corporate governance and compliance practices. Strong integrity, disciplined work ethic and a self‑starter attitude.
