Australian Department of Defence – Townsville QLD The APS 5 Procurement Supervisor operates under limited direction to deliver complex procurement and contracting activities within Defence’s logistics environment. The role requires a strong understanding, (or the ability to acquire) of Commonwealth Procurement Framework, Defence policies, and legislative compliance. You will manage workflows, provide advice, and ensure timely and effective purchasing outcomes to support and operational requirements. The Procurement Supervisor is responsible to the Warehouse and Distribution Manager for the management of regional inventory procurement expenditure against Defence Service Agreements and operational requirements. The Procurement Supervisor is required to exercise financial delegations and be responsible for budgetary outcomes for the Commanding Officer Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland) (JLU‑NQ). The position provides local assurance and oversight of services delivered on behalf of JLU‑NQ. This role is also responsible for the management and acquittal of accounts payable tasks relating to Unit training and trade repair maintenance outcomes, as well as regional procurement activities. The Procurement Supervisor is also responsible for oversight of JLU‑NQ Unit Resource Management activities, including but not limited to, fuel card and fleet vehicle management and unit owned equipment. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and supervise procurement activities, including oversight, monitoring, of purchasing tasks; Assist with procurement planning, simple contract formation, and contract management ensuring compliance with legislation and Defence procurement policies; Manage procurement demand processes to ensure timely and efficient order placement; Liaise with stakeholders to resolve procurement issues and maintain productive relationships; Support contract service delivery during High Risk Weather Season (HRWS), Defence Aid to Civil Community (DACC) and Humanitarian Aid Disaster Relief (HADR) activities; Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in procurement practices; Maintain accurate records using Objective and Defence logistics systems. About our Team Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland) is an enthusiastic and professional mix of military and civilian employees who are passionate about supporting soldiers, sailors and aviators across North Queensland. The unit is dedicated to delivering essential logistics services including warehousing, distribution, equipment maintenance and clothing store support to enable military operations. It does this from modern facilities on Lavarack Barracks in Townsville and a smaller satellite site in Cairns. Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland)’s span of responsibility stretches from Rockhampton in the South, to Thursday Island in the North & to Mt Isa in the West. The unit utilises a broad range of internal skills, together with close relationships with Industry Partners operating under National contracts, to provide excellent logistics support to a wide range of military units across North Queensland. Joint Logistic Unit (North Queensland) is one of seven units across Australia providing networked logistic effects in support of Defence objectives.
